The Bowie Metropolitan Alumni Chapter (BMAC) is pleased to announce its ACADEMIC Scholarship. The BMAC scholarship will be awarded to a deserving high school graduate, GED recipient who has applied and been accepted at Bowie State University or a candidate who is currently a full-time student. The amount to be awarded is $500 and can only be used in the applicable semester. The scholarship may be used for tuition, housing, books or other university expenses.
Eligibility Criteria for Bowie Metropolitan Alumni Chapter Academic Scholarship:

- The student must be a citizen of the United States (U.S.).
- Must be a high school graduate.
- To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2023–24.
- The student must be a full-time student at Bowie State University enrolled in 12 or more credits.
- Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
- Two letters of recommendation are required. All recommendation letters must be submitted on official letterhead. One letter must be from a college professor or college administrator, and the other must be from a community or civic leader (a pastor, mentor, etc.).
- Please submit recommendation letters as part of your application package.
- Scholarship recipients must volunteer for BMAC events during the academic semester.
- Draft a 1000-word essay on how your experiences have led you to this point and how your family background has affected your worldview.
- Applications must be typed and received by the posted deadline. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Please place your name in the top right corner of each page of the application and essay.
- Application and related documents should be emailed to the Bowie Metropolitan Alumni Chapter Scholarship Committee. Note: The email address will be noted on the application.
The application period for the Spring 2025 semester is open. The deadline for submitting your application is January 10, 2025 by 11:59 PM.
